"It" Tag

This game was invented by one of the neighborhood children (me, although I’ve found out since that it is played elsewhere under other names). It derives its name from the fact that everyone who plays is "it". A flat, rectangular area is used to play. All the players arrange themselves around the perimeter of the playing field evenly spaced apart from each other. Someone says "go", and everyone moves cautiously forward, trying to watch all sides at once, while at the same time trying to tag anyone. (To the casual observer, this might appear more like aimless milling around.) The reason for this caution is that if you are tagged by anyone at all, you are out of the game and must step outside the boundary. Since there was a lot of arguing as to who tagged whom first, a new rule was added. If two people tag each other at virtually the same time, both are out. | ||
